Energy Conservation And Electricity Load Management Strategies Using An Energy/Electricity Management Modeling System For New York City

Project Information

Award Amount:$100,000.00
Dollars Leveraged:$0.00
Start-End Dates:10/1/03-9/30/04
Description:The State University of New York (SUNY) and its partners examined energy conservation and load management options for New York City. The specific objectives of the project were to:
1) Explore the direct and indirect contributions of energy/electricity conservation policies, such as Energy Star, to mitigate the affect of environmnetal contaminants and pollutants resulting from energy use in New York City; and
2) Identify and examine selected locales within New York City, such as the Lower Manhattan reconstruction area, that offer opportunities for electricity load management strategies and energy conservation programs and policies.

The projects objectives were supported by the development of a framework that serves as an energy/electricity load management and energy conservation modeling system. The framework is based on the New York City's Reference Energy System and associated energy/environmental (MARKAL) model.
