GLRPPR has converted several of its Topic Hubs to LibGuides, which allowed for integration of some social features. View the converted hubs, as well as other LibGuides related to pollution prevention and sustainability, in the University of Illinois' LibGuides Community.
Building new schools is not always the best option for school districts. Some may elect to retrofit older existing schools or update newer schools. Projects might be completed within a scheduled timeframe with the goal of implementing all of the modifications at once, while budget constraints require adhering to a staggered timeline. Unfortunately, a great number of schools often determine their best option is to build a new school. School administrators and school boards can benefit from the efforts of other districts. Numerous case studies from around the country are available online. These case studies document strategies, steps, results and outcomes and often provide contact information. Rather than reinventing the wheel, these case studies make it easier to determine the appropriate designs for your region. The resources in this section will be identified in several ways to make your selection easier. Key word searches by subcategories will help your search and these key words include regional searches for U.S. EPA Region 1, U.S. EPA Region 2, and on through U.S. EPA Region 10. Additional key word searches can be conducted within each region for Case Study, New School, Retrofit School, and Historic School. A full listing of all of these is too extensive for identification in this introduction to case studies.
