Factors that may impede the implementation of pollution prevention practices at auto salvage yards include:

  • a lack of awareness of the environmental and financial liabilities
  • the cost of modifying or adding buildings to move dismantling inside, and
  • the cost of modifying or adding concrete or asphalt pads to expand or to add berms around the pad to prevent fluids from running off into the soil.
