Profile:

  • The Mississippi River Revival is a grass roots river organization that was formed in 1980 to protect the Mississippi River and its watershed. MRR’s mission statement states, “ The Mississippi River revival works for a clean river through education, hands on activism and celebration.” MRR has members in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. Our office is located in Winona, Minnesota. The Mississippi River Revival has an active volunteer base who engage in water quality monitoring and river clean ups. MRR has an environmental education program that provides in depth understanding and involvement for students seeking to understand rivers and watersheds. MRR also has a strong advocacy focus, and has filed several citizen suits to protect the Mississippi River’s watershed, as well as serving in a watchdog role over Federal and State agencies.

GLRPPR is a member of the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange, a national network of regional information centers: NEWMOA (Northeast), WRRC (Southeast), GLRPPR (Great Lakes), ZeroWasteNet (Southwest), P2RIC (Plains), Peaks to Prairies (Mountain), WSPPN (Pacific Southwest), PPRC (Northwest).
