Profile:

  • HEC addresses the root causes of Indiana's environmental challenges: We work to improve state environmental policies to protect our air and water. We promote public acquisition and wise management of Indiana's forests, parks, wildlife refuges and wetlands. In partnership with our schools, we introduce children to the joy and value of the natural world. We work to redirect government spending from building new roads that induce urban sprawl to repairing our deteriorating existing roads and improving our present neighborhoods. We support campaign finance reform to strengthen democracy's place in environmental decisions. Throughout Indiana, we provide technical and organizing assistance to local residents, helping them help themselves. We build broad-based coalitions necessary to making fundamental change.
