Profile:

  • This group of energy companies and energy consultants, together with government agencies and schools, colleges, and universities, has joined forces to champion the cause of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Michigan. At the core of their efforts is the commercialization of a renewable, on-site generation technology, vertical axis wind turbines. McKenzie Bay/WindStor Power Company, a Michigan-based company, is preparing to install the first vertical-axis wind turbine at the Ishpeming Housing Commission's Pioneer Bluff Apartments. This will be the first commercial installation of the WindStor turbine in the United States, and teamed with the expertise of the Michigan GREEN collaboration, will mark an important step forward in Michigan's effort to become America's epicenter for alternative energy development.
