Profile:

  • Minnesota, along with New Hampshire and Missouri, were chosen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to conduct an innovative pilot program called Printers Simplified Total Environmental Partnership, or PrintSTEP. The project is funded by a grant from the EPA and by MPCA support.

The objective of this program is to simplify the regulating and permitting process for the printer. PrintSTEP will combine air, water, hazardous waste, and storm water permits, reporting, and fee structures into one user-friendly document. However, the existing standards for air, water, hazardous waste and storm water will not be changed. The program also offers operational flexibility, incorporates pollution prevention and encourages community involvement.
