  • The UW-Extension Solid and Hazardous Waste Education Center (SHWEC) provides waste reduction services to waste generators in Wisconsin. SHWEC specialists work in collaboration with county extension agents to: improve compliance with environmental regulations, promote the benefits of source reduction, recycling and pollution prevention strategies. encourage municipal integrated solid waste planning and implementation, support utilization of recycled materials and compost, and provide solid & hazardous waste educational support to state agencies, local governments, and other organizations.

GLRPPR is a member of the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange, a national network of regional information centers: NEWMOA (Northeast), WRRC (Southeast), GLRPPR (Great Lakes), ZeroWasteNet (Southwest), P2RIC (Plains), Peaks to Prairies (Mountain), WSPPN (Pacific Southwest), PPRC (Northwest).
