Abstract:
In addition to recommendations for reducing mercury discharge, this fact sheet provides suggestions for managing other wastes that may be generated by a dental practice. Topics include amalgam waste, X-ray fixer, X-ray developer, lead foil or lead shields, cleaners for X-ray development systems, disinfectants, chemiclave waste, and other wastes such as blood, sharps, and office waste. A checklist, table of alternative materials, and contact information for amalgam and mercury recyclers in the state of Wisconsin are also provided. (PDF format; Length: 6 pages)
