Basement Insulation Home Energy Guide: Techniques, Tactics and Tips

Abstract:
This energy guide from the Minnesota Department of Commerce Energy Information Center focuses on basement insulation and is targeted at homeowners. The guide provides recommendations for improving basement comfort in an existing home that do not involve insulation, as well as reccomendations for new and retrofit foundation wall insulation. Information is also included on exterior basment insulation, structural insulated wall systems, and interior insulation methods. Sections on testing for dryness, decorative finishes for interior walls, the effects of mold on the home and its inhabitants, and a list of references and resources are included as well.
