The Feasibility of Reclaiming Shell Material from Investment Castings

This report examines the feasibility of recovering investment shell components. Data on typical investment shell compositions, obtained from an industry survey, specimen, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and radiographic diffractive (XRD) analysis is presented. Material reclamations are discussed, and prior investigation and ongoing reclamation operations are reviewed. Mineral processing theory and methods are discussed to assist in the development of reclamation operations. Written by Timothy M. Peters of the University of Missouri-Rolla and Daniel L.
