This report covers the first year's research on the nature of the foundry waste streams in the form of air emissions from processes of coremaking, molding, pouring, and shakeout. It also establishes where they originate and their makeup. The approach used includes a review of all available information. Sources were the technical literature, suppliers of chemicals to foundries, American Foundrymen's Society, Inc. (AFS) workshops, U.S. EPA Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards, technical meetings, and visits to foundries. Written by Daniel L. Twarog of AFS and the Dept. of Chemical Engineering at the University of Alabama. (PDF Format; Length: 50 pages)
