Enhancement of BTEX Biodegradation Rates Under Iron-Reducing Conditions

Abstract:
This report describes a project designed to examine the efficacy of stimulating iron-reducing bacteria to biodegrade BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and the xylene isomers)in situ. All of the BTEX compounds are known or suspected carcinogens and are regulated by the U.S. EPA. Written by Walton R. Kelly and Michael L. Machesky of the IL State Water Survey. (Length: 68 pages)
