GLRPPR Sector Resource: Pollution Prevention in the Primary Metals Industry: A Manual for Technical Assistance Providers

Title:
Pollution Prevention in the Primary Metals Industry: A Manual for Technical Assistance Providers

Abstract:
Primary Metals (SIC 3300) and the pollution associated with it, varies dramatically depending on the type of operation. The type of facility, metal and non-metal inputs, processes and equipment all factor into the pollution sources and prevention opportunities. Therefore, this manual divides the industries into six categories: steel making, ferrous and non-ferrous foundry operations, non-ferrous metal refining aluminum, non-ferrous metal refining copper, non-ferrous metal refining lead, and non-ferrous metal refining zinc. The processes, waste streams and pollution prevention opportunities are discussed independently for each section. (Length: Hardcopy version is 35 pages)
