GLRPPR Sector Resource: Pollution Prevention (P2) Spotlight: Reducing Decabromodiphenyl Oxide Waste Management

Title:
Pollution Prevention (P2) Spotlight: Reducing Decabromodiphenyl Oxide Waste Management

Abstract:
This spotlight focuses on the use of Decabromodiphenyl oxide (decaBDE), a brominated flame retardant used to meet fire safety standards in a range of products, and considered by EPA to have cancer-causing potential.

From 2003 to 2014, total industrial releases of decaBDE reported to the TRI Program decreased by 84%. Learn how source reduction and other environmentally friendly practices contributed to this trend, and read about how the Dekoron Wire & Cable facility in Mount Pleasant, Texas, eliminated its use of decaBDE.
