GLRPPR Sector Resource: 2013 Case Study: Via Christi

Title:
2013 Case Study: Via Christi

Abstract:
Via Christi Health comprises a variety of facilities including hospitals, physician's clinics and rehabilititation facilities, just to name a few. Via Christi has participated in the intern program in previous years, but this was the first year that the focus was on the operating rooms. Tendai Kwaramba was hired as an intern to work on waste reduction, water conservation, and energy efficiency projects. Some of Kwaramba's recommendations include:

  • Waste segregation
  • Lighting
  • Sterilizers Audit
  • HVAC setback
Some of the solutions to be implemented include landfill waste diversion, occupancy sensor installation, and reductions in the number of air changes throughout the day.
