Title:
The Case for Sustainable Landscapes

Abstract:
This document is a companion volume to the much larger report titled The Sustainable Sites Initiative: Guidelines and Performance Benchmarks 2009. It provides background on the Sustainable Sites Initiative; a set of arguments -- economic, environmental, and social--for the adoption of sustainable land practices; additional background on the science behind the performance criteria in the Guidelines and Performance Benchmarks 2009; and a sampling of some of the case studies the Initiative has been following.
