GLRPPR Sector Resource: Acid Recycling Technology

Title:
Acid Recycling Technology

Abstract:
This technology update from the Illinois Waste Management and Research Center (WMRC)describes the recovery of acids from process wastes to avoid the costly problems of treatment, disposal, reporting and liability. Cleaner process baths also improve manufacturing quality and maximize production capacity. Also included in this document is a case study of a successful pilot project performed by WMRC at Gerlin, Inc., a Carol Stream, IL manufacturer of stainless steel fittings and flanges. WMRC engineers used diffusion dialysis to recover nitric acid and ammonium bifluoride from a pickling bath for Gerlin. (PDF format; Length: 2 pages)
