GLRPPR Sector Resource: Fifth Annual Report of the eCycling Leadership Initiative
Fifth Annual Report of the eCycling Leadership Initiative
Created in 2011, the Initiative is a collaboration between CE manufacturers, retailers, collectors, recyclers, nongovernmental organizations and governments at all levels and spearheaded by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA™). The initiative's key goals are to:
• Improve consumer awareness of the available collection sites sponsored by the industry
• Increase the number of collection opportunities available to consumers
• Provide transparent metrics on ecycling efforts.
Throughout the first five years of the eCycling Leadership Initiative, there has been excellent participation from the CE industry, producing remarkable results. CTA estimates the industry spent more than $125 million on electronics recycling programs -- more than any industry has ever spent recycling any consumer product in the United States.
This report outlines the latest results (from 2015), the progress made from the Initiative's inception in 2011 and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
