Recycling at Special Events: A Model for Local Government Recycling and Waste Reduction

Abstract:
This model study has a twofold purpose. First, it provides information to help event organizers create a waste reduction program. Second, it details programs and policies to help city and county planners encourage recycling at special events in their jurisdictions. This model study presents examples and highlights from efforts all around the world, including Australia, Austria,Maine, and California. Individual case studies profile the recycling experiences at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and the Bay to Breakers footrace.
