GLRPPR Sector Resource: Pharmaceutical Waste Product Stewardship

Pharmaceutical Waste Product Stewardship

This website is a resource for developing innovative and sustainable strategies for managing and reducing pharmaceutical waste in Wisconsin. All those involved in the life cycle of pharmaceuticals --from design through manufacture, use and disposal -- can help reduce pharmaceutical waste. The site provides information on the Pharmaceutical Waste Product Stewardship project, which is funded by the EPA Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) to develop a comprehensive strategy to address the issue of proper disposal of unwanted medicines and personal care products in the western Great Lakes states. The project will fund a mail back collection program for Great Lakes basin communities in Wisconsin for two years and seek a more sustainable long term solution by using a product stewardship approach to managing and reducing pharmaceutical waste in the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, New York, and Pennsylvania.
