Title:
Design for Recovery Guidelines: Aluminum Packaging

Abstract:
The primary purpose of this document is to explain the effects of different physical aspects of aluminum packaging on the practical recyclability of that packaging in the current recycling system. To add context to this guidance, this document also provides an overview of the aluminum manufacturing and conversion processes and the aluminum packaging collection, sorting, and reprocessing operations. A brief discussion is given regarding their relationships with the overall process in which aluminum packaging is recycled.
