GLRPPR Sector Resource: Advancing Education for Sustainability: Teaching the Concepts of Sustainable Building to All Students

Title:
Advancing Education for Sustainability: Teaching the Concepts of Sustainable Building to All Students

Abstract:
This document explores the critical role of the built environment in educating all students about sustainability. It provides a set of core sustainable building concepts, examples of institutions that are successfully teaching their students about sustainability, and recommends steps that higher education institutions could take to provide all students with the knowledge and skills to create a just and sustainable future. The paper also provides a rich appendix of resources that will enable faculty and administrators to take action on this important issue. This document is a companion piece to the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment guidance document, Education for Climate Neutrality and Sustainability, which discusses and offers strategies for a broad approach to integrating sustainability into the higher education curriculum.
