GLRPPR Sector Resource: Denial of Petitions for Reconsideration of the Endangerment and Cause or Contribute Findings for Greenhouse Gases under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act
Denial of Petitions for Reconsideration of the Endangerment and Cause or Contribute Findings for Greenhouse Gases under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act
EPA determined in December 2009 that climate change caused by emissions of greenhouse gases threatens the public's health and the environment. Since then, EPA received ten petitions challenging this determination. On July 29, 2010, EPA denied these petitions. This portion of the EPA website presents the response to those petitions, a press release on the matter, a related fact sheet and a section on "myths vs. facts." Links are also provided to relevant scientific assessment reports; recent inquiries and investigations of alleged wrong-doing by organizations and scientists involved in the Climate Research Unit and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; and copies of the actual petitions.
