Great Lakes Regional Pollution Prevention Roundtable
Promoting Pollution Prevention Through Information Exchange

GLRPPR Sector Resource: Walkscore.com

Title:
Walkscore.com

Abstract:
Walkscore.com uses Google Maps and business listings to calculate the "walkability" of a given location. Using a street address, the system calculates distances to grocery stores, schools, parks, restaurants and other services and scores the location on a 100-point scale. The tool is designed to help real-estate professionals demonstrate their properties' proximity to services and to promote awareness of walkable neighborhoods. Limitations of the tool can be found in the "How it doesn't work" portion of the web site.
