GLRPPR Sector Resource: Pollution Prevention for Arts Education Topic HubTitle: Abstract: The Pollution Prevention for Arts Education Topic Hub describes the health and environmental hazards found in art education settings, including the theatrical arts. Ideas for using pollution prevention in the art classroom, including suggestions for alternative, more environmentally-friendly materials and products, are provided. The contents are applicable to all educational institutions, including K-12, colleges and universities, and informal education programs. Theater groups may also benefit from the information provided by this Topic Hub. In addition to the standard features of a Topic Hub (as described above), this Topic Hub includes a glossary of terms; information on environmental regulations related to art health and safety; a section identifying regional and national suppliers of non-toxic and least-toxic materials for art education; and a "Curricula" section that provides a selection of high-quality educational tools for teachers seeking to offer alternatives for their students, with links to educational materials and programs. The Pollution Prevention for Arts Education Topic Hub was developed by GLRPPR staff members with technical input and review provided by professionals from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. EPA Region 5 and the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
