Abstract:
Windustry is a non-profit organization based in Minnesota that works to create an understanding of wind energy opportunities for rural economic benefit by providing technical support and creating tools for analysis. Its Community Wind Energy Information Clearinghouse provides information and resources on locally owned commercial-scale wind projects that optimize local benefits. The Clearinghouse provides a definition of the community wind phenomenon and its benefits; case studies of community wind projects; news articles, studies and reports on the topic; information on public policy for community wind; information on community wind programs and initiatives; presentations and conference proceedings; resources specifically geared toward local governments, schools, municipal utilities, rural electric cooperatives and farmers and ranchers; and information on a community wind listserv.
