GLRPPR Sector Resource: Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative (MCDI)

Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative (MCDI)

The Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative (MCDI) is a collaboration of federal, state and local agencies, along with communities, non-profit organizations and private companies working together to reduce emissions from diesel engines in the Midwest. The MCDI has a goal to reduce emissions from 1 million diesel-powered engines by 2010. The Initiative will do this through operational changes, technological improvements and use of cleaner fuels. The Initiative is supporting a multi-pronged approach to include all fleets. MCDI will focus on three key sectors: ports, agriculture-freight and rail. MCDI also will have a focus area on the United States and Canada border crossings.
