GLRPPR Sector Resource: Challengers Tennis Club for Boys and Girls: Facility Energy Efficiency

Title:
Challengers Tennis Club for Boys and Girls: Facility Energy Efficiency

Abstract:
Located in Los Angeles, CA, this facility incorporates a multitude of green design strategies. The project is estimated to use almost 60% less energy than a comparable building built according to the California Title 24 requirements. The reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is estimated at about 40 tons per year. No ozone-depleting CFCs or HCFCs were used in the facility. An integrated energy approach was followed in the design of Challengers Tennis Club. Several energy-efficiency measures reduce energy use, while the resulting demand is supplied by onsite solar electric power. Energy design decisions were made based on a lifecycle cost analysis.
